State Representative Jeff Leach Announces Run for Re-Election to the Texas House of Representatives; Releases List of Over 500 Endorsements and Supporters
PLANO, TEXAS РToday, State Representative Jeff Leach announced his plans to run for re-election to the Texas House of Representatives, releasing a list of over 500 endorsements from voters, donors, grassroots volunteers, and local and statewide conservative leaders publicly backing and actively supporting his re-election.  Representative Leach is seeking a third term serving House District 67, which encompasses portions of Plano, Allen, Richardson and Dallas in Collin County.
‚ÄúBecky and I are sincerely grateful for the outpouring of support we have received from our community as we embark on seeking re-election to another term in the Texas House,‚ÄĚ stated Leach.¬† ‚ÄúIt has been an immense blessing and honor to serve the wonderful people of Collin County and it is a responsibility that I do not take lightly. More than ever, we must join together in the fight to protect and advance the conservative values of limited government, faith, family and freedom in Texas. The citizens of District 67 have my steadfast commitment to continue this important work on their behalf to ensure that Collin County and the State of Texas remain a beacon of liberty for the rest of America.‚ÄĚ
Representative Leach is proud to have the support of Collin County‚Äôs top law enforcement official, Sheriff Terry Box, who stated, ‚ÄúRepresentative Leach is always doing the right thing for the right reason. He is always available to hear your concerns and interested in your opinions.¬† He is a great voice for law enforcement and for all Texans in Austin.”
While serving his first term during the 83rd Legislative Session, Representative Leach passed critical legislation aimed at preventing the reckless expansion of Medicaid under Obamacare.¬† Further, he successfully authored and passed substantial franchise tax relief for small business owners who relocate their headquarters to Texas – spurring steady, reliable job growth.¬† In 2013, The Dallas Morning News honored Leach as one of the ‚ÄúBest of the Dallas-area‚Äôs Freshman Class,‚ÄĚ and Capitol Inside recognized Leach as one of the ‚ÄúBest Freshman Legislators.‚ÄĚ
Most recently during the 84th Legislative Session, Leach led the fight in the Texas House to defund Planned Parenthood ‚Äď authoring and passing a landmark amendment to the state budget which stopped taxpayer dollars from funding abortion providers and their affiliates.¬† Leach passed legislation protecting private property rights and also passed a critical bill cracking down on sexual predators in our communities and providing greater tools for our law enforcement officers to keep our neighborhoods safe. ¬†Representative Leach also worked diligently to pass the largest tax cuts in the history of Texas, increase funding for transportation infrastructure and fight against new toll roads, advance smart and sensible education reforms, devote more resources to secure the Texas border, and pass legislation advocating for victims of domestic violence. ¬†Representative Leach also fought to pass bold transparency measures to make our state government more accountable to taxpayers.
Kelly Shackelford, President & CEO of Liberty Legal Institute, a non-profit law firm based in Plano dedicated to defending and restoring religious liberty across America, stated, ‚ÄúI am proud and excited to announce my support and endorsement for Representative Jeff Leach‚Äôs re-election to the Texas House of Representatives. ¬†A man of faith, wisdom, and integrity, Jeff is a strong, experienced legislator, a tireless advocate for the constitution and a fearless leader for our state.¬† A committed constitutional conservative, Jeff is a rising star in the Republican Party and I am honored to continue supporting his efforts in the Texas Legislature.‚ÄĚ
With deep roots in the community, Representative Leach was born and raised in Plano and is a graduate of Plano Senior High School.  Leach went on to earn his undergraduate degree from Baylor University, where he served two consecutive terms as Student Body President.  During his time at Baylor, Jeff demonstrated his commitment to conservative values, serving President Bush in the White House Office of Political Affairs and the Republican National Committee.  Jeff went on to earn his law degree from Southern Methodist University’s Dedman School of Law and currently practices at the law firm of Gray Reed & McGraw, P.C. in Dallas.  Jeff and his wife Becky, a small business owner, are the proud parents of Brady (age 7), Charlotte (age 4) and Landry (born October 2014).  They are active members of Prestonwood Baptist Church, where they have served for several years in the Young Families Ministry.
