State Representative Jeff Leach Announces Support for State Representative
Dennis Bonnen to be Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives
AUSTIN¬†‚Äď Today, State Representative Jeff Leach announced his support for State Representative Dennis Bonnen (R-Angleton) in his bid for Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives.¬† First elected to the Texas House in 1996, Representative Bonnen currently serves as Speaker Pro Tempore and as Chairman of the House Ways & Means Committee.¬† Representative Leach issued the following statement of support:
‚ÄúAfter a series of meetings and discussions with constituents, community leaders and fellow legislators about the direction of our state, I am excited to announce my strong support for Representative Dennis Bonnen to serve as our next Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives. ¬†I have served closely with Chairman Bonnen for three sessions, and after a series of deliberate conversations with him in recent weeks, I am confident that he is the person to preside over and lead our Chamber. ¬†Dennis understands that the Texas House must come together to address the big issues facing our state, including public education, tax reform, transportation, healthcare and public safety, and he is committed to faithfully supporting and empowering each legislator to effectively represent our constituents.¬† I am confident that, under his leadership, the Texas House will deliver meaningful results for the individuals, families and communities we are elected to serve.‚ÄĚ
A fifth-generation Texans with deep roots in Collin County, Representative Jeff Leach was born and raised in Plano and is a graduate of Plano Senior High School.¬† Leach earned his undergraduate degree from Baylor University and went on to earn his law degree from Southern Methodist University‚Äôs Dedman School of Law.¬† Named a 2017 ‚ÄúRising Star‚ÄĚ by¬†Texas Super Lawyer, Jeff currently practices at the law firm of Gray Reed & McGraw, P.C. in Dallas, where he specializes in complex commercial and civil litigation, construction law and real estate. ¬†Jeff currently serves on the Board of Trustees for Houston Baptist University.¬† Jeff also serves on the Advisory Board for Meals on Wheels of Collin County, and he formerly served on the Board of Trustees for Medical City of Plano.
Jeff and his wife Becky, an author and small business owner, are the proud parents of Brady (age 10), Charlotte (age 8) and Landry (age 4).¬† They are active members of Prestonwood Baptist Church, where they have served for several years in the Young Families Ministry.
