Richardson City Council Member Amir Omar Endorses Jeff Leach

Amir Omar, Richardson City Council Member and Community Leader, today announced his endorsement of Jeff Leach in the upcoming runoff election on July 31st. This endorsement adds to the growing list of Collin County leaders who are rallying behind Jeff Leach’s campaign for the Texas House, including State Representative Jerry Madden, State Representative Ken Paxton and State Representative Jodie Laubenberg, as well as House District 67 Candidates Roger Burns and John Pitchford, among many others.

Amir Omar stated in his endorsement, “Jeff Leach fully embodies the spirit of servant leadership that we want and deserve representing our community. His energy, optimism, and principled focus will truly make a difference in Austin and serve us well.”

Omar continued, “Jeff is a man of deep faith and love for and commitment to his family and I know we can count on his consistency and steadfastness in representing us in Austin. I wholeheartedly encourage all voters in District 67 to join me in supporting Jeff Leach and to personally get involved by voting for Jeff on July 31st and volunteering for his campaign in the final stretch!”

In response, Jeff Leach said, “I am honored to receive the endorsement of Councilmember Amir Omar. Over the past several months, Amir and I have had many in-depth conversations about the challenges and opportunities facing our community and I look forward to working with him and other community leaders in the years to come, advocating and working together for the people we represent.”

Amir Omar was elected to the Richardson City Council in 2009. During his tenure as Councilman, Omar has continued his award-winning volunteerism that helped him get elected. Omar’s efforts combining public service and volunteerism most recently resulted in the regional honor of being named the 2012 One Man Dallas. The honor directly benefited Omar’s charity of choice, the Methodist Richardson Cancer Center. Omar currently serves on the City of Richardson’s Retail Committee and is Liaison to the Richardson Arts Commission.

Running for Texas House of Representative in District 67, Jeff Leach was raised in Plano and graduated from Plano Senior High School. He is a graduate of SMU’s Dedman School of Law and currently practices with the law firm of Griffith Nixon Davison, P.C. He received his undergraduate degree from Baylor University. Jeff and his wife Becky are active members of Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano. They live in Plano with their two children Brady, age 4, and Charlotte, age 1.

In addition to numerous community leaders across North Texas, Leach has previously earned endorsements from statewide organizations including Texans For Fiscal Responsibility, Young Conservatives of Texas, Texas Right to Life, Conservative Republicans of Texas and the Collin County Conservative Republicans, among others.
