Appointed Chairman of Interim Committee on Criminal Justice Reform
March 10, 2022Today, Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives, Dade Phelan, announced the creation of a new interim study committee on Criminal Justice Reform. This committee is created to examine all elements of state policy that influence intake and outcomes in the state’s criminal justice system and make recommendations to protect the safety of all Texans and preserve Texans’ constitutional rights to due process of law.
In response to his committee appointments, Representative Leach stated the following:

I look forward to working with my House colleagues on this committee as we examine issues such as policing, criminal procedure and due process, and opportunities to reduce recidivism.
