Fairer Courts. Safer Roads.

This session I was proud to author House Bill 19, which passed with bipartisan support in both the House and Senate and was ultimately signed by Governor Abbott on June 16th. HB 19 ensured that businesses of all sizes which provide thousands of jobs can protect themselves from the frivolous and abusive commercial trucking lawsuits they have been fighting for years. This common sense legislation is the result of countless hours spent meeting with business owners, injured Texans, and my legislative colleagues to come up with a solution that works for everyone.

Specifically, this law creates and fair and level playing field and allows both parties have equal access to the process. At the same time, HB 19 ensures that injured Texans will have fair access to the court system and receive the full scope of damages due to them.
